Due to staff shortages we are currently unable to offer ear syringing appointments to patients. The practice regrets that it has had to temporarily withdraw this service, and intends to re-start it once the resources are available to do so. However, at this point in time we are unable to say when the service will be available again.
Patients who are experiencing a build up of ear wax are recommended to use ear drops in the first instance to clear their ears. There are a variety of options available, and a pharmacist will be able to advise on the most appropriate type to use. Patients should visit their local pharmacy to speak to a pharmacist about their individual circumstances. Patients are recommended to use ear drops for 4 weeks, and this normally clears ear wax blockages.
If patients want to have their ears syringed during the period the practice is unable to provide this, they can obtain this service from private providers. The practice is aware that the following clinics provide this service, and they can be contacted directly for further information:
Edinburgh Hearing Practice, 4 Stanley Road, Gullane, East Lothian - 0131 629 1819
Core Hearing, Eskbank Office Complex, Dalhousie Road, Dalkeith - 07508 170281
There may be other suppliers of this service, and the practice does not make any recommendations regarding any specific provider.
The practice apologises for any inconvenience the temporary suspension of our ear syringing service causes patients.
